This is my second MIG welder. The first was a used Hobart 120 that I got cheap and learned how to weld. The LOTUS MIG 180 is awesome. I am blown away by the power and setting ability of this welder. Not to even mention the value you get when buying this welder. Included spool gun, 180A welder, quality of the welder. The only downside so far is the included welding mask is almost a toy; however, I would guess anyone spending $400+ on a welder already has their preferred welding helmet/goggles.The welder was delivered quickly and packaged/boxed well.A+ quality; A++ included accessories; A+++ welds, Great for intermediate to beginners who want to MIG weld stainless, Mild steel, or thin aluminum with spool gun (I have found ways to weld thicker aluminum with the standard MIG gun. This was the best priced MIG 180 on the market that I found, Sept 2018. I would recommend this welder to anyone needing something more than the standard 100-140amp MIG welder.
Awsome product for the price, 15 minutes out of the box i was stacking dimes in 1/8th aluminum plate, wish this had a two stage trigger instead of just the single so you could flood the area with gas befor you strike a arc, it dose however have the gas on a 3 second timer after you release the trigger so you can just barrly bump and release it, wait two seconds, pull the trigger and start welding. Im used to welding with15k millers, this isint a miller but its great for the extream hobbyest who isint going to mass produce. I plan of building a 30 ft aluminum boat with this and am fairly confident it will do the job.
I was extremely impressed with the quality of this welder for the price. I used it on my shifter kart build, and it worked perfect. Everything from 1/32 to 3/8 steel. I have yet to use the aluminum spool gun, but I’ll leave a review once I have. I plan on building an aluminum flat bottom boat in the near future.

Overall this is a very good deal. This mig welder seems very well built and comes with almost everything you need to weld(flux core). When I opened the box I was surprised to see thin pieces of plywood added inside the cardboard box for added protection. This definitely helped my welder arrive undamaged because you could see where the box was bent in a few places so that was a very nice touch. It arrived with all the parts shown in the pictures. So the big question is how does it weld, well, very good In My opinion. I have used 3 phase Miller mig welders when I worked in a fabrication shop and I have used very cheap harbor freight flux core welders. And while I am not a professional welder anymore I do have a little bit of experience with other equipment. So far I have just tried the flux core wire that came with the unit and it put down a nice bead with good penetration on 110v on a piece of 1/4" thick pipe. If the performance stays consistent when used on 220v with mig wire and shielding gas then this is a great deal. I will update this review when I try it that way. So what's not to like? So far here is what I have run into.1. The roll of flux core wire that is included is 9mm thick, or .035. There is 2 problems with it. First it will not fit in this welder without modifying it. You have to cut the center out of it and then figure out a way to keep it from freespooling so it doesn't unwind in the machine. Not a dealbreaker but more work than it needs to be. The next problem is they did not send me any 9mm or .035 tips for the mig gun. Only .030 and .040. Luckily I had some .035 tips already.2. Spoolgun connection. The plug on my machine is different than the one pictured. It is a 2 pin plug. Who knows what spool gun fits it. I have searched for the model number provided In the questions section and can't find one. If I ever use the spool gun feature I will likely have to buy one and modify it to plug into this machine.. again it is not a huge problem but could be addressed by the manufacturer and they would probably sell a lot more units.3. Features. It does not have anything fancy like an LCD screen to show amps and volts. It does not have what they call synergic welding which automatically sets the wire speed and volts to the thickness of metal you are welding. These are features that can be found for a little more money in similar machines. But in my opinion you don't need either. If you have a little experience welding then you will know when the settings are correct. those features are just more things that could break and cause problems. So this may be a positive, it is a matter of opinion.4. the manual is almost completely useless. It gives no information on how to set up the machine or its functions and features. If this is your first welder my advice to you is find someone to help get you going. You will drive yourself crazy trying to figure this thing out with basically no instructions. The manual does at least have a parts breakdown. so if you do have problems the manufacturer could send replacement parts.... maybe. Who knowsSo bottom line is it is a great deal. Yes there is room for improvement but there always is with anything you buy. This welder performs much more like a 1-2 thousand dollar pro machine than anything I have had before. You will have to spend at least double to triple the price of this welder to get anything that might be better...I am very happy with my purchase. ThanksUpdate:I have since hooked this welder up to 220v power and 75/25 gas. I added a couple of pictures of the welds this machine is capable of with .035 mig wire. The long vertical weld was done on 3/8" thick 4x6 angle iron. It had good penetration and made a decent weld for being out of position on a ladder while welding. And the machine wasn't on its highest setting during this weld either almost but not turned all the way up. I made about 25 identical welds to this on a structural beam in about a 30 minute period and the machine never kicked off. That's a good duty cycle. The other weld is on 1/4 thick pipe like I had previously used. It too made a nice weld with good penetration. Overall I am extremely happy with this machine. It does everything it claims.
as a structural steel fabricator ive used a lot of different welders. this is an excellent machine that delivers industrial type power on 110 or 220v(adaptor included) in an easily portable unit.its very versitile with a 4" spool adaptor & spool gun(not included) & different weld wires & electrodes. its 60% duty cycle is no joke, with .035 dual shield wire, on 110v, welded 6" passes set at 26.2v & 13.4 ipm repeatedly for 20-30 min. & didnt shutoff or overheat. its actually a 180amp machine but its runs every bit as good as the lincoln 250-300amp machines at my job.welds stainless & aluminum very nicely. stick welding is good, a little spattery but that could b the electrodes. i shopped 3-4 mo. & looked at many different machines, this one has met all of my performance & price requirements. it arrived sooner than expected, well packaged, undamaged, unmolested & with all the parts. as far as longevity, time will tell, but if kept clean, clean, clean should last for a good many years. im absolutely thrilled with this purchase & would definatley buy another one & recommend to others.
This is a great welder. I bought this welder last year. It works great and it is a good deal. I have used this welder couple times, and it never let me down. If you want to use this welder, make sure you setup and write down the IPM, Voltage, and amp on the setting. If you don't know the number of these setting, you will have hard time of using this welder. This welder doesn't setup for 2lb spool. But you can make one for yourself. I like this welder so much I bought the second welder for my brother.
