So I'm sitting here contemplating the dermatologist's orders (rather standard, but in these parts standardly ignored) that every square inch of skin must be covered up when one is out of doors here in lovely uptown Arizona.Well, in a country where most women decline to wear burqas, that's not very practical advice... Oh well. Then I remembered: the chambray shirt!Whoa! Literally... Back in the day, when we had a ranch and I used to ride a horse around the boondocks at every possible chance, Phoenix used to host a store called Yellow Front. An odd emporium, it had features of a general store, a Sportsman's Warehouse, and a blue-collar worker's supply. I bought a pair of saddlebags for Babe there -- very handy! And jeans and bandannas and fishing gear and a felt-covered canteen and...all sorts of cool stuff. One of the cool things you could get there were men's blue chambray work shirts. They were cotton plus some kind of synthetic, as I recall -- so you didn't have to iron the damn things, the way you had to iron your daddy's khaki shirts once a week. And they were the bidness! Loose-fitting even in the smallest men's size (which was the only size that would even remotely fit a 120-pound woman), they let air flow all around you (if you left the tails untucked) and so, much like an Arab's white robes, would keep you cool on a warm day by blocking the direct sun while creating a kind of natural air-conditioning.Yellow Front, like all things American and Good, is long gone. In the past I've looked for the things at joints like Target and Walmart and found them...disappeared. Hmmm... chambray chAMbray chAMAZONbray! Why the heck not?Off to the Web! Look it up, and lo! Wrangler still makes them!!! And Amazon has got them!HOT diggety DAYum!Order one up. Late this morning, stroll out to the front courtyard to imbibe the remains of the day's coffee, and lo! There's a package from Amazon. Grab. Rip open. And lo! There's a good old chambray shirt. This one's fabric is a little heavier gauge than the ones I recall. It's 100% cotton. And instead of being made somewhere in New England or the Midwest, it's fabriqué in Bangladesh, which is too bad. Shame on Wrangler! Still...at least they're still making them and shipping them to...Amazon. Yeah. And the "small" size does still fit. A little long in the arms, which as I recall was the case with the original. I used to roll up the sleeves, aping a handsome young man whose style I admired. For an old lady's purposes, though, this is...umh, handy, because when left to their own whim, the cuffs slide down past your wrists and cover about half the back of your hand, thereby protecting the supposedly precancerous area from the dreaded sun. This kind of shirt makes a great lounge-around-the-house cover-up when the weather's cold, too. I don't run the heat in the winter -- saving the power then makes it marginally affordable to run the air conditioning in the summertime. So what's needed here at the Funny Farm is something to keep off the chill that can be run through the washer and is not too fancy to wear while gardening and cleaning the pool and scrubbing down the kitchen and is sturdy enough to hold up to said activities. For the summer: all of the above, except substitute "keep off the sun" for the first desideratum.Just the ticket.Heh. Wrangler. I used to wear Wranglers jeans. That was SO outré! Lawyers' wives did not wear Wranglers. No, nooo, dear, it was just not done! At the worst, you could wear Levis, but even that...tsk tsk. If it cost less than $50, it was just...no.Well, being the sassy little broad that I was, of course I wore Wranglers, because the things fit. Levis do not fit a 120-pound woman with a 130-pound rear-end. 😀 Do not now, did not then, never will. Wranglers would fit real women, and they fit women who were given to riding horses. Not only could you breathe in the things, you could swing your leg up over a saddle and push yourself clear of a horse that was going down or trying to throw you. Not only did I wear the things, I wore them to teach in graduate school. So there!Think I'll order up a few more of these fine garments. Now...if only I could get ahold of another mare...
What I received today is truly disgusting. A used, stained, cologne drenched mens shirt. It arrived in a box, rolled up in a generic plastic bag. That was the first clue. Opening it up was finding a wadded up, wrinkled, seriously smelly mens shirt. I'm not even sure how to describe it other than you wouldn't want to stand near me at at funeral. That's why I ordered this shirt, for my buddies funeral on Friday morning. It's Wednesday. I needn't show more photos as you see the point. I have to put this shirt outside it's so bad. This is a first for me and for such an important occasion to look my best for my friend. Disappointed.
I bought three of the Wrangler Men's Authentics shirts, one in light blue, one in grey, and one in "pumice stone." Overall I think they are an excellent buy for the price; they fit well, and the construction seems very good. But be aware that there is more difference than just color when you select one. The fabric of the blue is considerably lighter in texture than the other two--which I like; I was looking for a light-weight long-sleeve cotton shirt to wear in warm weather--and the construction differs somewhat also; the pumice stone (off-white) one has reinforcing panels inside the yoke. The Amazon listing is somewhat misleading, because it gives you the impression that all that's different is the color. But I'm quite happy with them. Perhaps they are not as high-quality as a shirt from some place like Orvis, but the price of these is about one-fourth that of an Orvis shirt, so you can easily afford to replace them if they wear out sooner.

Chambray shirts are a strange thing. It's hard to get the sizing right. Some companies design them to make you look like SpongeBob when you put the shirt on. Some guys really like that look as they want the freedom and mobility more than the clean cut "I work for a living but I'm still in the game" look. So if you're looking for Pure functionability and movement, order your true size and it will definitely give you room to breathe and grow 🙂 I'm 6ft 2 215 pounds and I wear a large long. You can see how it fits in the pictures. It's not too long but it's not a belly shirt.Chambray shirts are acceptable to wear out. f you want a shirt you can wear to the bar with a pair of work boots, go down a size. If you're over six feet tall definitely buy it in a long. Carhartt gear is known for being the best of the best in the work world and yeah, they charge a little more for it but it will far out last any other kind of shirt you buy for daily work use. Carhartt seems to be the only Workwear company that still considers style a part of the business plan.Don't skimp on yourself. You can find cheaper shirts that will fall apart but this Carhartt chambray shirt can be worn every single day for 5 years and never come apart. You get what you pay for, my friends.
I'm 6'1 roughly 270 pounds. My work requires me to be outdoors or fooling around with heavy machinery.I'm always looking out for quality work clothes that are comfortable, tough, and in the summer months light weight and breathable. This shirt fits the bill, and I'm planning to purchase more.My only complaint is the sizing is quite large. I normally wear 2xl, and this shirt runs a bit big. Don't get me wrong, it's great for breathability and moving around. But if you're looking at this shirt for normal wear, I would suggest sizing down. If you're in that weird middle ground where the 2xl is too big, and the xl is not big enough like I am, the only thing I can suggest is lose some weight, which I'm working on. 😛
Either they changed their logo and didn't update the picture, or this is a different shirt.. Logo is big and white/orange, where in the photo its the same color and blends in. Really an eyesore.Amazon should be ashamed of themselves for false advertising and not fixing it when multiple customers notice and post reviews.

My husband told me 4 days before he needed it, that he needed a denim shirt. For many folks, that's no problem, but we live very rural. So rural that it's an hour drive to a Wally world and 4 hours to a good Big and Tall Man's shop. Ugh! I looked on Amazon and found a XXLT in this shirt, which looked like what he needed, but I can't tell you how many times we order xxlt and it's either too short in the shirttail, or the sleeves, or shrinks up to an XL (no T) after it's been through the dryer. This shirt DID NOT FAIL us! It's a substantial denim, cut for a man 6'5" and did not act like shrink wrap when dried! My husband thinks I'm such a champ because of how much he likes this shirt and that I came through in a crunch. I highly recommend this shirt. It is made properly, cut the proper size and doesn't shrink a lot.
Wonderful workmanship and it looks great. Listed as a "relaxed" fit it softens when first washed and does shrink a bit to what could be called a "regular" fit. I am 6' tall and weight 170 and I tried a medium first but it was tight across the shoulders and back. The Large was a "relaxed" fit when first received but with washing it softened and shrank to a perfect "regular" fit. If you much taller than 6' or other than a bit on the trim side I suspect the large would not be a proper fit as the sleeves would be somewhat short or the body a bit snug. Great shirt and I am happy I ordered three of them.
Ok, I'm an office worker - not a rigger, so my arms might not fill this shirt - I saw a few comments to that effect, so yes, you might want to go up a size. If I wasn't bigger around the gut than my shoulders, I'd be a large rather than an XL.So, maybe that will help you with sizing. for comparison - I'm 5'9" but only 30" inseam, so my trunk is a little longer than average for my height. I like the length just fine. This is a very comfortable shirt right out of the package. I've only washed it once, but did not notice any shrinkage. The weight of the denim is just right for walking outdoors in the 50's - 60's with out a jacket, might be a tad to warm for working in the 70's. I'm getting ready to retire so I'm stocking up on shirts I expect to last a while. I've tried out several brands of denim shirts, and I like this one and the one I got from Joe's best. The Joe's shirt is a tad lighter weight - that might be a plus or minus depending on your activities and climate. I'm buying another of each.

This runs small, particularly in the shoulder area, I am normally size small and medium and the medium is snugged on the shoulders and I can’t barely move my arms, i have to return it but other than that everything is perfect, quality and how comfortable the fabric is, the sizing is just off but if you get the perfect size it’s a pretty shirt, a must have in every wardrobe
I purchased this without swiping through the photos or reading too much into the description. I was looking for a lightweight, chambray shirt, and was surprised when this thick, classic-look denim shirt arrived.Once I logged into amazon and realized my mistake. I'm a big fan of the Levi's brand, so I figured why not give it a shot anyway. I tried it on, and loved it!NOTE TO BUYERS: Keep in mind that denim has the potential to shrink when washed, so you may want to consider sizing up.
Thanks to everyone who said this runs a little small. I am an XS(4-6), but the Small fits perfectly. I got the Radio Starry to wear with my medium and dark wash jeans. It is very pale blue, and the fabric has just a touch of stretch to make it comfy. I just realized how fabulous it will look with my white jeans this summer, too. I’ll use it as a light jacket for the cold summer A/C. I highly recommend this shirt.

I have been looking for a shirt like this for over a year. I have bought and returned about 5 others as ill fitting or poor quality. This shirt is the perfect weight and fit. I am 5 foot 4, 36B and 150lbs and the large fits PERFECTLY! i love the length, the drape, everything about this shirt.
Great shirt at this price point. Champs is a durable brand. The top is not for the large chested. I wear and bought a medium. It fits great, but if my boobs were any larger it would be too tight, and I'm a small C cup and never have this problem in size medium Super soft material
I saw this shirt in a department store but they didn't have it in my size. I checked Amazon & luckily, there it was in my size & color. I love the shirt & I especially like the pinkish color, It fits just right. I bought a large & I am 5'4" & weigh 154.
