Only 6 shots in so far, sighting in a new bow / scope but I don't expect to wear this target out any time soon. I have a new Excalibur Matrix Bulldog 280lb draw, 400 fps bow.A number of negative reviews on depth of arrow and difficulty pulling concerned me a bit but I bought this anyway. I was a little surprised at the size even though I read the specs - much bigger than I had realized but that is both good and bad. Bigger means more bulk to transport and heavier - but it's not that heavy I can't carry it and lift it easily into the back of a truck, and I'm not a big person. Heavier means that when my 250 grain Diablo (Easton) carbon arrows with 150 grain field points for a total of 400 grains at 400 feet per second hit it, it doesn't move, not even an inch.Arrows went at most half way in, and pulled out very easily. I had bought an Excalibur T-handle arrow puller based on people saying the arrows are hard to pull. That may come in useful with other targets but for now, I could have saved that money. My arrows and field points came out very smoothly. This is listed as a 19 x 19 x 19 inch cube - I will need to measure but I think it's closer to 24 inches. Extra size is kind of nice over some of the smaller 12 to 15 inch dense foam blocks that are hard to pull from. A friend has one of those and with his bow more like 300 fps, it was hard pulling the arrows from the foam.
This target works great for my Excalibur axiom and crossbow which shoots 305 fps. I've included a picture of this target being shot 4 times from 40 yards. As you can see, it easily stops the arrows safely and I can remove them with only two fingers. I have been shooting at the deer side of this target for quit a while now and I haven't noticed any significant wear. Still stops the arrows great. I think it's the best bang for the buck target out there.
Don't normally write reviews but in this case I had to. Not happy with this target at all. At firs look it's well made as all Morrell targets are, the problem is it's not very effective at stoping bolts out of a Mission MXB 400 fps X bow. First shot a 20 yds buried up to the vanes, ok it stoped the bolt I'll give it that. After a few shots on all sides moved it back to 60 yds, first shot hit a previous hole and the vanes ended up in the center of the target not good for the vanes at all. Shot at a spot not previously shot and still up to the vanes at 60 yds then shot at the same spot again and the bolt went completely through. To use this target I must put an old Morrells super duper in front of it, only then is it not a problem.I'm sure it's ok for compound bows and much slower X bows just not 400 fps and up with heavy bolts. In short I wish I'd gotten another Morrells super duper as you can at least pack the stuffing down again.

BLOCK BLACK CROSSBOW ARCHERY TARGET - Its high density layered foam design makes the Block Black Crossbow target the BEST crossbow target on the market. THE BLOCK BLACK CROSSBOW TARGET COMES IN 2 SIZES! OPEN LAYERED POLYFUSION TECHNOLOGY = EASY ARROW REMOVAL! Fusing the internal layers to the...

User reviews

First off, I'm using a crossbow that shoots 370fps, and when I say it buried itself in this target, I mean all the way up to the fletching's, and into the shed behind it. Second, it was extremely hard to get the bolts out even with a puller. Third, it destroys the target face when you pull them back out, don't see this lasting long at all without being destroyed. This was all with field tips, so I tried it with my practice tip from rage, and it stopped a little better, but still buried it more then half way which made it REALLY hard to get it back out with the wider tip, and tore a chunk out of the front of the target about 2 inches. This all makes me extremely made considering the price of this target. A guy from work told me about a shooting bag which after a mail in rebate only cost me $20. Its heavy and terrible to move around, but at least it stops the bolts only a couple inches in, and its super easy to pull them out. Sure wish I had done this in the first place cause this target is junk.
Worked great to stop a crossbow bolt for the few times I fired the bow. I had some problems with the bow so not many bolts entered the block. Bolts are difficult to remove from the block material due to its density(actually that is a good characteristic). Recommend using a lube designed to facilitate bolt removal. I used a product called Arrow Snot and it made removal quite easy compared to not using product
I originally got this because my Morrell Bonecollector Double Duty 400 Broadhead Target was just too big heavy and cumbersome to take with me to shoot at. Plus it only works with field points and I had to get sighted in with some broadheads. I have an Excalibur Vortex (around 330fps) and a Mission MXB-360 (360fps with a 22" arrow) and this target easily stopped all bolts without them getting buried. The shots were from 20 out to 50 yards and the bolts stopped fine and came out easily each time.I guess if I was shooting a 400fps like the Scorpyd or the Ghost 410 I might think it would bury the bolts at shorter ranges but Id guess if you were 30+ yards youd be fine. But for the price this target works great and is a good size and weight to make taking it out with you shooting is convenient.

Stops Fieldpoints, Fixed Blades, and Mechanicles

User reviews

I have shot a lot of Block layered targets in the past and they never performed. My arrows would blow through and damage my fletchings. I needed something that would actually stop my arrows. Something that wouldn't have pass throughs and damage my fletchings. This target didn't give me any pass throughs on my Compound bow or Crossbow. Honestly, it surprised me how it didn't have any pass throughs and it was easy to pull arrows because I'm shooting higher speeds with my bows. Especially, shooting at 350 FPS. That's the biggest reason I am giving it 5 stars for my review.Secondly, I can shoot all of my arrow tips. I usually shoot nothing but field tips because I only tune my broadheads right before I go out to hunt. So, not only does it stop my field tips easily, it stops all of my broadheads easily. Including both of my expandable and fixed blade broadheads. I'm super happy about this. It's just convenient.Thirdly, the pricing is middle of the road. Like I said in my video, it's not the cheapest or the most expensive product and I feel like I'm getting the quality of a higher end target. Also, since I made the video I've put several hundred shots into it and it seems to be holding up great. It should last a long time. Time will tell but it has already topped any layered foam target I have ever shot previously and that says everything I need to know.So the final question.... would I recommend this target? Absolutely. I'll be buying again!
This is a tough target that is also light weight.Arrows don't pull out easy but I imagine this will change with more use. I typically go through targets every 4 months. A mix of shooting several times a week and light broadhead testing. Really I dont like to shoot targets with broadheads but its necessary. Best thing I've found for broadheads is just a plan old big chunck of white foam, cheep and disposable. But in the event that I cant find a chunck of Styrofoam this target works well to withstand a broadhead hit and not loose its stopping power.
This is a 20 shot review. I just received the block yesterday and was able to practice with it this morning. The price is a little higher than it should be (product name), but definitely light weight and easy to move. I’m pretty sure there are other blocks out there made of the same material and lower in price, so if you’re just starting out look for a budget friendly block. I shot in groups of 5 with my bow at 60lbs and my arrows are 400 spine, with a 100 grain field tip on them. The arrows penetrated the block about a quarter length of the arrow, but pulling the arrows out wasn’t as easy as other reviews made it seems. I can definitely tell the block will hold up for a couple of years

User reviews

If you are worried about the cost of the product, I'll explain why this is a good purchase over time. I've been shooting blocks for several years now and I've never had any problems with them. This target is super durable when it comes to shooting field points. I've been shooting mechanical (Rage) and fixed (Muzzy) broadheads into this target for a few weeks now and it is holding up fine. There is some cosmetic damage from the mechanical and fixed broadhead practice, but that is to be expected. Don't sacrifice quality for price, you won't regret buying this target.
I have had it a week. Shooting my crossbow into it and a buddy has used it for his bow. Stops my Barnett Ghost 350 with field point or broadheads. At 20 yards it does go through about 2-4 inches but it does stop it without tearing the block up. Once I get the Arrow to break free it slides out easily.23Jan2013 After reading a bad review on here I thought I would update my review. The guy must not have read my short review as he was upset that the crossbow bolt went through the target. if you check out the picture I posted with the product you will see the bolt from a Barnett Ghost 350 will bury to the quills with the broadhead sticking out the other side. This target works by by the bolt/arrow causing friction which heats up the plastic in the target which gets sticky and slows the bolt/arrow. Once the plastic cools off it is easier to get the bolt/arrow out. I have to twist or push the bolt/arrow to get it broken free. If the target has cooled off the arrow will then slide out easily. I usually shoot three, walk down and start removing the first as it has cooled down by then. Taking the broadhead off does make it easier to remove the bolt/arrow. I have pulled the quills through without damaging them but I can see how they could be damaged doing this.Try avoid hitting the edges of the target as it will cut the band which hold the layers together. There is also plywood on some of the sides. The target has held up great to my crossbow and my buddies bow.
When I started my search for a new archery target, I had some specific credentials in mind. I needed a large target face as I like to practice shooting my bow out to 70+ yards. I needed something that could handle broad heads as I like to practice with my regular hunting set up. I needed something that not only could stop my arrows, but then allowed for them to be easily removed as well; something I was definitely having trouble finding. So, I got some advice from Jim Burnworth and decided to spend the money on this target. Needless to say, I'm very pleased. I shoot a 31" draw on a Faktor 34 pushing a ~540 g arrow (total weight) at around 290 fps, and it stops them better than anything else I've tried. Not only that, the arrows (broad head or field point) pull out of this target more easily than any other I've tried. Today I own 1. By next season, I hope to have 4 or 5 staggered throughout my range.

This target worked perfectly fine for my Centerpoint Sniper 370. I didn't pay attention to the dimensions when I purchased it and only looked at the picture of the guy holding it at his side. It was almost laughable how small it seemed pulling it from the box. That being said; this worked great to sight in my crossbow, and now I should only need to use it after unsuccessful hunting trips, so the small size is nice considering I'll just leave it in the bed of my truck. I did have one bolt pass nearly through it at 20 yards and ruin the vanes(it was about the 10th shot into the target), but aside from that, it seems to stop most of them after about 10". Definitely worth the money for what it is.
Excellent target! I bought it for my 7 year old son who has a compound bow. Since Amazon said others who bought the bow bought this target, so did I. Keep in mind that you will need a stronger bow to pierce this target. A 10 year old may be able to pierce it but my son is 7 and the arrows had a hard time cutting through most times. He uses a real compound bow and real arrows. Perhaps if his arrows were sharper it would work though. This target has been rained on, left out in the cold, they've tossed it down a slide and onto concrete. It's light enough for even 5 year old to carry but sturdy enough to stand up on its bottom.
I have the very large Yellow Jacket broad-head target but this is handy for a discharge target if your cross bow does not have a unload ability as you can lug it deeper into the woods where you hunt. I have a standard crossbow and a CO2 crossbow so i can use a discharge bolt when necessary or auto unload with the CO2 crossbow. This target is handy as it is not hard to lug around like the full size target, you just have to be more precise in shooting. I use the Rage broad heads with the practice heads so I am sure of my bolt’s trajectory when hunting. I also use a Laserlyte Laser Crossbow Sighter before taking any shots. All these work to ensure I am on target at game or practice or using the bag for a discharge of my bolt. Keep a bolt with a field point or bolt with practice broad head or a full discharge bolt and you are good to go.
