Very heavy package so I had to get crafty and opened the package outside and brought in the pieces a few at a time. The "bronze" color is still very dark and appears almost like a matte very dark brown. It could easily be mistaken for black from a distance. Has a nice matte rough texture to it which keeps grubby fingerprints from showing as easily. This was SUPER straightforward, simple, and quick to assemble. Easier than Ikea furniture, even. I am a petite female and had no problems doing it on my own, probably took me about an hour and half to put together both the bed and trundle. Once the bed is assembled and all the screws tightened the thing is very sturdy and I couldn't make it squeak. No blemishes and no missing pieces---mine came with a couple extra plastic rod connectors, not sure if this was by mistake or in case one or two break down the line. The trundle has room for a 10 inch mattress to fit comfortably. You'll need to buy a bed skirt with a 14 inch drop (as pictured) or possibly go for a 16 inch drop if you want it touching the ground.----and make sure you buy one specifically for a daybed. If you get a 4x-sided bedskirt you will have to fold the rear-facing long side under the mattress and there won't be a slot for it to come out of the frame. A regular 3-sided daybed skirt (two short sides and one long) will suffice. I wouldn't recommend a huge pillow-top mattress for the top, that's the kind of mattress we have in the photos, but it is so tall that it hides more of the frame than I would like. All in all it looks very classy and we are very happy with our purchase and looking forward to hosting guests.
At first, we were very happy with the purchase. The bed looks great. But after three months there are significant structural issues with the frame, the frame integrity on our bed is sub-par. The bed was used by a preteen with no rough play and sometime over the three months of ownership the frame is compromised severely. We are hoping for a positive outcome with customer service, will update review when resolution is determined.Update: No action will be taken. No replacement or refund offered. Three months is the apparent life span of this product.Update 2: Seller has now initiated a replacement with the manufacturer.
If you are searching for a day bed for your in-laws, do not purchase this one. I tried to buy a cheap frame that would squeak all night and sag, but I didn't hear one complaint! "We got a wonderful night's sleep!" "How much did you guys spend on this quality piece of craftsmanship?!" Ugh. Thanks a lot, Dorel Home Furnishings, for producing a bed that my wife's mother thinks would be better than staying at a hotel out in town...

My daughter loves this bed. Shipping time was excellent with the bed arriving ahead of schedule. The box was heavy and the bed was packaged well. Putting it together was a breeze. The instructions were complete and showed each step accurately. My husband and I had it put together in about an hour. It is very sturdy and doesn't squeak at all. The bed is gorgeous and looks wonderful in my daughters room.
I ordered this for my daughter for her apartment and after reading reviews, was concerned that she'd have trouble putting it together. She's 19 and has never put anything like to together before, so I made note of some of the suggestions in case she had trouble. She got it together with no trouble but told me that once it was together, the length from the back to the front was too long so the supports wouldn't fit as they were too short. I thought this was strange and was going to call the company but wanted to wait until I got a chance to see it. Good thing I waited. See, that hardware that so many are complaining about actually serves a purpose. My husband and I went to visit and the first thing I noticed was that the metal hardware was not showing on the front as so many had complained about. That's when I realized that she had put the legs on backward. We took it apart and put it back together properly, (very easy fix by the way) and voila! the rails now fit. Problem fixed.Once we got it all together though we realized that against her very bright white walls, it was getting lost, so we bought some flat black spray paint and painted it. It took about 5 cans. If you decide you want to do that same, make sure you get enough paint so you don't have to send your husband back to the store like we did, (thanks Honey, you're the best!).We put the plastic rail connectors on, which gave the bed some really good support but decided not to put the little plastic things on that fill in the holes, as we figured we'd never be able to remove them and that would make it impossible to take the bed apart. Since my daughter is in college we figure we may have to take this apart to move it in the not too distant future. That being said, it fit though her sliding glass door, fully assembled when I took it outside to spray paint it.I'm not sure why some people had trouble assembling it. My daughter, with the exception of putting the legs on backward which was an easy fix, was able to do it with the instructions provided. A word to the wise though, if the hardware isn't showing on the front, you have the legs on backward.I'd read the reviews about people being upset with the hardware showing, but figured that for the price, for such a sturdy piece of furniture, we'd deal with that, either by deciding it really didn't look that bad, (I had to wait to see it in order to decide) or painting the hardware. Again, for the price, adding in the cost of a little paint isn't a big deal. In the end, we decided to paint the whole thing so for us it wasn't a problem.I'm not sure how long this will hold up. It seems quite sturdy. I'm not a small person and have sat on it without trouble. My daughter is tiny and her roommate isn't large so I doubt they'll put a lot of wear and tear on it. My other daughter and I visited over the weekend and the girls were quite comfy sitting on it and watching a movie. My other daughter slept on it and said the mattress wasn't comfy but that was because of the mattress, not the daybed. We bought a 4 inch, camping type mattress from Mattress firm as my daughter didn't want a thick mattress. So if you're planning to use this regularly as a bed then I'd get a regular mattress, not the 4" one. The 4" is fine though, for using this as a couch, which is what it'll be used for in my daughter's apartment. If she ever decided to use it as a bed on a regular basis I think we'll get a regular mattress.I've included a photo and you can see that we painted this black and dressed it up a little. It looks nice against the white walls.
Very easy to put together. I paired it with a 13'' matteress and it holds my weight (270# as well as my child ~ 50#) with no squeaking or issues. Only issue I had with it was that there were issues with failed paint on flaking welded areas as well as the bolts being silver and the bed being white so they stand out more then I would have prefered.

This is a great product for the money. We had purchased a Zinus king foundation that we love, and hoped this would be as nice. It is. Clean lines, sturdy, and comfortable.Assembly, however, was not “in minutes with no tools.” The product includes a throw-away hex tool and took about two hours to assemble. It would be much easier if the parts had letters on them, in addition to the numbers.Additionally, the metal scratches easily - but again, a good deal for the cost.We managed to squeeze an 11” Ikea matress on the trundle, but have to pick up the daybed frame to roll it in and out. I wouldn’t recommend more than a 10” mattress - which is still much better than most daybeds will fit.
I LOVE THIS BED FRAME! It is very well made; easy to assemble; and sturdy. I also have a 10” mattress on the trundle bed and it fits perfectly. I just have a fitted sheet on it. A regular blanket would be too thick to have it slide under. I would not suggest a bed thicker than 10” underneath. I would definitely recommend this brand! I bought a different Zinus bed frame for my sons room. Wonderful company!
Trundle wont stay stationary on hardwood floors. There are only two wheel locks, so bed rolls around when sleeping. Had to use bricks to keep trundle stable for company.

I like the way it looks on my daughter bed. She's into unicorn and was very happy with her quilt
Just what my daughter needed for her new day bed. Durable and vibrant colors.
The color was bright and fit my daughter's daybed perfectly. The quilt is on the thinner side but it is well made. I washed and dried it before using with no problem.

Wanted to add that this can be cut down fairly easily if you know someone with tools. I became more disabled and could no longer climb up on the daybed. Hubby tipped it sideways, and we measured 4 inches up the feet, marked it with masking tape for a level cut and he easily took off the extra length with his milwaukee cordless sawzall. Then we taped around the cut edge (sharp!) of the cut off piece, put a screwdriver in the center and popped out the plastic piece that makes the "foot" and popped it into the now shorter leg. We did this to both daybeds in the home. Now when I want to lay down it is just sitting, not climbing. It will not longer fit a trundle and mattress but I do have the mattress under there and keep the trundle in back of the unit against the wall. The living room unit (never had a trundle) is now much more comfortable for guests to use as a "couch". There is still lots of room under for storage using underbed boxes if, like us, you have limited living space.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Update at 3 yrs in use.Still holding up well. If I could change one thing, I would wish the trudle was pop up, or I'd buy the one without the trundle and buy the pop up trundle separately.=======================================================================================================Update at 2 yrs in use.Still quite strong and in daily use. We moved and it was a dream compared to trying to move a bed. We still use a large piece of cardboard (originally it was the box) between the rungs and the mattress. Gives it a nicer feel and easier to make it. I have this one against a wall so I have carpet glides under the feet to help move it to make it (any bed is hard to make against a wall). We bought this same model without a trundle for the living room when we downsized. We needed storage and I found totes that fit under it perfectly. They are the Hefty white and clear 66 qt, which are not available here but these are the same size. I can fit 7 of them under this, 4 in the long way front to back and 3 on the other side in sideways. With a skirt you don't even know all that storage is there. It is a bit high to be used as a seat/couch. We have an ottoman near it but it's usually the little ones and they just climb on and love all the space. I still recommend this highly. Here are the totes that fit under. https://smile.amazon.com/Sterilite-17571706-ClearView-Latches-6-Pack/dp/B003EH1GH2/ref=sr_1_5?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1514372484&sr=1-5&keywords=66+qt+storage+bins+with+lids++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=I'm giving this 5 stars because my minor issues aren't the manufacturer's fault. The finish is an odd color on the "bronze" (dark brown) unit. See pic. It's not smooth, it looks to me almost like metal that got rusty and then was painted, in fact the color kind of brings old rusty metal to mind, and it's kind of a dull brown, not reddish brown I would expect from "bronze". It's not wrong, it's just not what I pictured, which was smooth painted metal. If it were summer I'd have taken it outside and spray painted it and I may just do that in 6 months. I suppose it might not chip as readily as smooth might but I may paint it ocean blue anyway just because....Assembly. You should know I am a middle aged disabled woman and I was working alone. I've done this kind of thing before. Hubby and a friend brought the box into the room I was working in.Once I got the box open (35 minutes and I resorted to a razor knife), there was a neatly arranged set of boxes very well marked with the parts inside, the letters referenced in the instruction book, which was in with the back piece (the largest). I read the instructions first and checked to see if all the parts were there.Assembly calls for the use of a 4mm hex key. They give you two of them, one in each assembly kit (they must sell them separately). I went with my Milwaukee screw gun and a 4mm bit instead. It got a bit rough when I needed to hold a few things up but I used a piece of cardboard to balance them on and got the job done. Once the frame was together I added the stringers to the bed area. Easy procedure once you get the hang of it but I did find the plastic pieces that hold them in place were a challenge for my not so strong fingers. I took frequent breaks and eventually it got done. I left it all overnight and finished the trundle the next day. The trundle was harder for me. 1. My fingers were sore from the day before. 2. When putting in the stringers on the larger unit I sat on the floor inside and did most of it then slid out from under to do the rest sitting up close. When doing the trundle it's almost a must to kneel and I literally cannot. This meant sitting sideways and reaching in an awkward manner and it took me 90 min to put the stringers in, and my thumbs were screaming at me. I was so wishing there were just metal pieces and screws instead of the little plastic clips. The pieces that hold the stringers down the middle for strength were a piece of cake comparatively.I got it all done and then cut the heavy duty cardboard shipping box to size and put the pieces over the spindles of the beds to provide a little more strength and perhaps pad the bars a bit - also less to take to the recycling center. All in all time for assembly was 4 hrs but again that's about as long as it should really ever be for anyone since I am slow due to having achy fingers. Had I waited for hubby to have time to help it probably would have been about 90 min tops. For anyone looking for weight limits, the instructions say 400 lbs for the top and 225 lbs for the trundle. The advantage to this metal unit is that it is easily moved about, where the wood ones, or particle board are not so easily moved... I also like that the trundle is free standing because I intend to use it in an L shape so that the upper sleeper doesn't have to step on the lower one to get out of bed....I paid under $200 including shipping. I would not have paid much more.
I only gave it 4 stars because I had to call and get a new headboard shipped. It came damaged in the box. The box was in bad condition. Now that the bed is up. I put it together by myself. Proud to say I am a 54 yr old female. The directions were concise and easy to follow. Loved that every thing from the headboard to the nuts and bolts were clearly marked. It is solid. This being said you wont see much of the bed if you use it with mattress and boxspring. I opted to set mine up with just the mattress. Here are just a few pictures.
Absolutely love the bed! Easy to assemble with directions. Came out beautiful
