I needed snow pants for below zero weather and snow in Minnesota during the recent polar vortex weather. To get this out of the way: these are water RESISTANT, meaning they breathe some, but they aren’t water proof, nor does this product claim to be. This is ideal for what I was doing in snow in Minnesota. The bottom portion is more water proof than the top because of gators built in underneath. The gators and gator hooks were something I hadn’t expected, but I LOVED them. They kept snow out of my shoes, and held the pants in place when I walked through snow drifts. These pants were VERY warm and cut the windchill easily. Pockets were deep, functional, and do well at keeping items in them.Fit: I included a picture of the brand’s website actual size chart that is accurate with the brand. overall feel is that these are not a bulky snow pant. They were VERY warm, and were still a slim fit snowboarding pant. It is easy for me to move around in them, and I usually wear a pair of tights underneath. I wore up to 2 pairs of pants underneath with no issue.Where these suffered was my usual issue with pants, and I am not going to downgrade them because of my body shape. I am 5’6” and 125lbs. My natural waist is 24.5”, high hip/waistband (where regular rise pants sit across hipbones) is 33.5”, and my full hip (widest part of butt) comes in at 38.5”. This presents an issue where I was between the XS, S, or M depending on which measurement I took most seriously. I settled on the S which ended up fitting my butt perfectly, but was loose on the waist. This means when I bend over They slip down some, so I have to pull them up. Functionally, this is fine for me because I wear tights underneath which covers any potential plumbers crack, but it makes the cuffs lower too meaning sometimes the cuffs can get underfoot. It DOES have belt loops, but they sit too high on the waistband of the pant to be functional at holding the pant in place. Like I said, this is a common problem with pants for me, so I’m assuming most people wouldn’t have an issue here. A great pant. Highly recommend.
I am 5’2 135 lbs and I bought the Medium and it was right on the thighs and snug around my butt but had an extreme gap at my waist that not even a belt could fix. These pants don’t have Velcro adjustments and are too long for someone my height. Also the tags inside are placed poorly and create itchy spots despite wearing thermals under the pants. NOT a good snow pant for short girls.
