I bought two of these recently for a new drum set and have no complaints what so ever. I was looking for a versatile combo cymbal that I could get a matching set of and these do just fine in that regard. They work well as crash cymbals or ride cymbals, it all depends on how you play them really. And they are a very reasonable price, 65$-75$ range, can’t really beat that for quality brass.
as a 50+ year used of Zildjian cymbals I introduced my new drummer son to them. There's nothing like Zildian for a pure sound.
I am a novice and just starting out in music, that being said.........I just received this product today and is a beautifully made cymbal with precision and I gave this product 5 Stars based on the description. I didn't find out till after I git it that I found out it was too big for Bluegrass music but I was also told that Zildjian makes top notch instruments and that it was a wise choice to make in choosing this brand, so in the future, I will be buying more of this brand as I need it. I will be recommending it to my friends too.

A lot of the reviews for this are divided. "Oh, it sounds great," and "sounds like a s***ty gong" come to mind. I bought it anyways. It is definitely a cheap buy, and still looks like an amazing cymbal. As for sound, it does sound pretty crappy. But it's still a great buy for beginner drummers, or drummer who just like to jam out in their basements/garage. Once you start to get a gig or two, you should consider going with a better cymbalUPDATE: I've had the cymbal for about 1.5 years, and it's cracked to the point where I can't play it anymore. It's MOST likely because of the way I've been hitting it, and NOT because of crappy manufacturing. As I look at my old review I think I was a bit critical. I've grown to love the bright sound of this cymbal, and will probably buy another one
First impression: This cymbal looks nice; a very bright finish, looks well made. Upon playing, something feels a bit different from the cymbal I replaced, which was a Zildjian ZBT. I feel like it is fair to compare these two cymbals, because HCS is Meinl's entry level cymbal and ZBT is Zildjian's entry level. They have a similar sound, but the HCS seems thicker and heavier. This may turn out to be a good thing, but right off the bat it is a little off putting. It just kind of threw me off. Overall, I'm happy so far. I'll update this review once I've played on it a bit more.UPDATE: After playing on this for just one week, I had to change my review from "like it," to "love it." The cymbal sounds great, and the uncertainties I had about it quickly faded away as I played it. Great cymbal, especially for the price!
I purchased this cymbal to compliment my timbales. I have used various cymbals including Paiste, Pearl, Zildjian, Sabian, etc., but had never purchased a Meinl cymbal before. First: I am pleased at the overall quality and finish. Although I have had it for less than a month, it has help up well with use leaving no residual marks such as oils from my fingers. Second: The sound is sharp as expected for the crash family of cymbals but the smaller size, 14", does not make it overpowering for salsa, songo and other Latin rhythms. I will be adding a splash cymbal to broaden the range of my cymbal use but am definitely pleased with this purchase.Disclaimer: I was offered a complimentary gift for this review.

I bought without trying them out, so I had expectations based on other brand cymbals. The splash is way, way thicker material than expected, giving it a very garbage-can sounding solid ringing ching instead of the light, fast tshhh I expected. If I were to categorize this, i would say it is a miniature ride cymbal. After a couple days of trying to get used to this, I took it off and am now using as part of a stack on cheaper hi hats and gels + chains to alter the sound. The china sounds as expected, with a definite shwaaah, but again made thicker than expected so the tone is much deeper than the size suggest.
I have never bought a cymbal without hearing it first. I got these to add to a basic electronic set. After not playing for 15 years, I didn't want to dump a lot of money into something, if I don't keep playing. The China's nice by itself, splash is a little Dall, but not bad, by any means. Now that the beat is thumping through my fingers and toes, they'll go nicely with the acoustic set I plan on getting in the next few months.
I really like the China cymbal. The splash is just ok. I have the China mounted on an arm next to my crash, and the splash on top of my ride cymbal. I like to contrast this china with the 18 inch china I bought afterwards. Overall, the china alone is worth the money, the splash cymbal is just a bonus in that it already has a mount arm.
